Lately I've been a little obsessed with LinuxPPC. Linux, running on an Apple Macintosh!

Older Macs make convenient test boxes. There are very few hardware compatibility issues, since all the basics, including ethernet, are built in.

So far I've installed and played around with:

• LinuxPPC
• Suse Linux for PPC
• Debian Linux for PPC
• MKLinux (not a PPC-specific port; will run on 68K Macs!)
• Yellow Dog Linux 2.0

I tried installing Yellow Dog Linux (1.21), but I had a problem with their copy of the BootX program. Who knows?

I've managed to install:

• MKLinux on a Power Computing Power Center 120. This system currently collects and compiles stats for me on a daily basis.
• Suse Linux on a PowerPC 9500/200. This system is currently my router so that I can connect all my systems to the Internet via the cheapest Ameritech DSL service. I'm also hoping to turn it into a JSP server.
• LinuxPPC on a PowerPC 7300/180. This system was serving up www.burningthing.org, but is temporarily offline.
• Debian Linux on a PowerPC 7600/132. This system isn't doing anything because I'm out of ethernet cables.
• Yellow Dog Linux 2.0 on a 533MHz G4. I was going to use this as my new desktop at work and run the KOffice Suite and MOL, but the NVIDIA graphics card is not supported.
