Title: Laboratory Assistant (6-91 to 9-91 and 6-92 to 9-92)
What I did there:
- Okay, this was really neat, but you have to pay attention very closely:
- Separated Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL), High Density Lipoproteins (HDL), and Very High Density Lipoproteins (VHDL) from bovine plasma samples using an ultracentrifuge (60,000 RPMs!).
- Separated cholesterols and cholesterol esters from lipoprotein samples using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC).
- Poured Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) plates . . . a lot of labs just buy pre-fab plates, but I made 'em!
- Measured amounts of cholesterol and cholesterol esters from plasma samples using Gas Chromatography (GC).
- Maintained files and records of cholesterol and cholesterol ester levels.
- Cleaned dirty test tubes and other lab equipment; never underestimate the importance of clean glassware.
- Exposed myself to the neurotoxin acrylimide through the negligence of co-workers.
