Bird Watching
Observe the robin red-breast as she flitters about;
See her glide, see her soar, see the darling fly!
Oh, little robin, be careful--watch out!
Ah, see her land delicately on that power line.
Now look away as her fragile body gets barbecued;
Little robin, I warned you.
Let's turn our attention to those cardinals;
Note their strong, rippling abdominals
As they strut across the dew
And their brilliant scarlet hue.
Ah, look, Mrs. Smith's purebred Sphinx;
Watch as she stealthily stalks about--
"No! No! Bad kitty!"
There goes a blue jay smack into the grill
Of Mr. Johnson's Cadillac DeVille.
After witnessing such violence what do you say
We bag our binoculars and call it a day?
